Autumn at Willow Oaks | Kendall & John's Richmond Engagement Session
There are some sessions that remind me why engagement photography is about so much more than beautiful locations and great light.
Kendall and John's session at Willow Oaks Country Club was one of those evenings.
From the moment we started, it was obvious these two were completely comfortable with one another. There was no need for elaborate posing or forced moments. They simply showed up, enjoyed being together, and let the evening unfold naturally.
November in Richmond always has a way of showing off, and Willow Oaks provided the perfect backdrop. Between the tall grasses, colorful fall foliage, quiet water views, and rolling fairways, every stop throughout the property felt like a new chapter in their story.
As the sun began to set, we explored the grounds, capturing everything from quiet embraces to laughter-filled moments walking hand in hand. Some of my favorite images from the evening happened when Kendall and John forgot I was there altogether—those in-between moments where they're simply enjoying each other's company.
One of the highlights of the session came just before sunset as we created a series of silhouette portraits against the evening sky. Those images have a timeless quality to them and perfectly capture the excitement of this season in their lives.
We finished the evening surrounded by the last colors of autumn, with the golden light fading across the golf course and the anticipation of a wedding day that is quickly approaching.
