{JLP} Senior Session with Alyssa…

Yesterday I had the chance to meet up with Alyssa who will be graduating next month to take her senior portraits. The weather was perfect, maybe a bit humid but it’s Richmond so it’s to be expected! Hadn’t photographed at The Carillon in awhile and it was a great backdrop for the session. After the big celebration of graduating from Cosby High School next month, Alyssa will be on her way to Liberty University this August to study nursing. I wish you the best of luck with the transition to college, I’m sure you will do great and have an awesome time!

{JLP} A Wedding at Stonehenge…The Country Club

A year ago yesterday I met with Halen and Ricky for their engagement pictures, a month ago yesterday I was at Maymont with Halen for her bridal session (see previous post) and yesterday I was able to celebrate their wedding day with them. The backdrop for the day was Stonehenge Country Club in Midlothian,VA and the weather held out for as long as it could until it briefly started to rain shortly after a few shots were done with the families. Even with the rain slightly coming down Halen and Ricky were troopers with staying out to have a little bit of alone time before their grand introduction into their first dance. Once dinner was completed it was time to open the dance floor before the cake cutting. The cake looked amazing, the colors for this wedding were so bold and vibrant it made the cake look sharp. Ricky did go in for a second attempt with some cake for Halen but that time he was going into get some frosting on her as friends and family cheered him on. It was a great night with the dance floor crowded and everyone having an awesome time at a big party that Halen and everyone put a lot of work into making happen. Hope you all enjoy the preview and have a great time in Jamaica…When’s the flight tomorrow Halen? Ricky said I could come.

{JLP} Meet Olivia…

This evening I had the pleasure of meeting up again with Sarah and Marc to have Olivia’s newborn pictures done. Look back a few weeks in the blog, you will see their maternity session before Olivia made her appearance on April 21st. Besides being an adorable baby girl, she was just a very happy and quiet little baby. A few times we all thought she might fall asleep but to our surprise, she stayed awake thru the whole session. Looking forward to photographing Olivia again but for now, congratulations to Mom and Dad on the start of a beautiful family.

{JLP} A Wonderful Ceremony at the Hindu Center of Virginia…

Last week I had an email one evening from Dheeman & Kelly wanting to know if I was available and interested in photographing their ceremony that was set for today at the Hindu Center of Virginia. Once I knew the calendar was clear I was very eager to hear more about their ceremony as it would be my first time attending or photographing such a powerful ceremony in one which there are numerous traditions. Luckily for me Dheeman was able to explain a lot leading up to the big day and another quick lesson once at the temple and I was good to go. Not sure I could do a very good job explaining everything but I did come away learning a lot and eager once again but to this time for my next Hindu ceremony. Thank you to Dheeman and Kelly for including me, it was great to meet you and wish you all the best! Enjoy the upcoming OBX trip and your future trip to India later this year!

{JLP} Boy or Girl?

In June, Allison and Brad will be brining home their first child from the hospital, will it be a little girl that will be a cheerleader like her mom or will be be a little boy with a lacrosse stick in his hands as his Dad did. The parents are split in their guesses! It was a great evening photographing these two and thought the backdrop of Allison’s Grandparents farm and property in Hanover was awesome. Can’t wait to meet him or her in a little bit!

{JLP} A Very Richmond Wedding…

When I first met Chris and Brittany to hear about their St.Patrick’s Day wedding, I immediately started to smile as I was told the ceremony would be held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond followed by a reception at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. To top it off, a few hours on a trolley to go around Richmond with the bridal party in between! It made for a long day for everyone but a day that was truly awesome! I could go on and on about the day, about how great all of their friends were and how I can’t wait to be back to the VMFA but I’d rather post the pictures, keeping this part short and sweet. I want to thank Chris and Brittany for letting me be a part of their wedding day, I hope you have an amazing honeymoon! Enjoy the preview

{JLP} Waiting on Olivia…

I’m sure i’ve said it before but it should be said again that it’s pretty cool when one day I can photograph a couples wedding and another (in the future) photograph the start of their family. Saturday morning I met up with Sarah and Marc for some maternity pictures to showcase Sarah’s baby bump. For such a chilly and windy morning, both were troopers with constantly shedding the jackets for pictures. Looking forward to meeting Olivia at the end of April! {JLP} Farewell to 2011….

As with previous years I always like to make one big post at the end of the year, it’s something I look forward to as I get to take the time to review my work over the year. I’ve posted a bit of images that looking over the past 12 months worth of blogging stood out to me, many triggering nice memories of the time spent getting the shot. I don’t think I missed any posts but if I did, let me know! 2011 was a fantastic year and it would not have been without so many people, too many to name. Too all of my 2011 brides and grooms, thank you for letting me do something I love and be a part of your special day. There are some great things planned for 2012 for James Linkowitz Photography and jumping right into the New Year with a new website and blog being designed now by the amazing designers at RAWFolio, I’ve seen the mock ups and I can’t wait for the launch which is looking like the end of January. Make sure you pick up your copy of Richmond Weddings Magazine this January as well to see my full page ad which I’m excited to see in print. Narrowing it down was hard to do, but thanks to a certain consultant, the best ad was chosen. Things around the Linkowitz family house hold will be growing in size sometime during the month of January, whenever he or she arrives, I’ll be sure to post a picture or two. After reading what I just typed it sounds like 2012 is coming in a bit full!
